After a long period of bad and boring subjects I've had a very interesting course in college about trends and the fashion market at the last two weekends. Our teacher was an editor-in-chief of the German fashion magazine "Achtung". He could tell us a lot about the business and its people. It's really good to have this contact to the market and "real life" while studying. Now I have a much better picture of the kind of work I'm going to do later.
The big highlight was the meeting with Michael Michalsky, former chief designer of adidas, who has now his own label in Berlin. He told us his biography: He studied with a lot of luck design management in London, only because two other applicants suddenly didn't want to study there and he got the free place. It was very funny for me to hear that many design colleges said that he had not enough talent to study and now he is pretty successful in the fashion business as a designer.
He works with two teams of several designers, one for women's and one for men's fashion. I felt relief to hear that they draw a lot and not only work out their outfits by pattern making. So maybe its not so bad to work in a industrial campany like that. In Berlin many smaller companies don't make design drawings but that is exactly a big part of hat I would like to do.
This course was in many ways really refreshing. Many subjects/ courses, I have had during the last semesters, had really disappointed me, either because of the badly structured lessons, or because of uninteressting and unnecessary content. This one was worth attenting. Now I can see my goals more clearly.

Cintiq rocks :)
I'm working currently on character designs for our student game project. And it's a lot of more fun with using the cintiq instead of my small din A5 wacom tablet.
Merry Christmas
I wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
